Orbital Asteroids - Light & Shadow

Pure digital painting to experiment with making a planet and some foreground asteroids. I really enjoyed using the additive blend for the layer that covers the nearby star in a heavy bloom of glowing light. Was fun as well to try volumetric shadows.

Slathering nebula colors over a starfield of splatters.

Blended the nebula, painted in a planet, painted in some asteroids, and slapped a nearby star into place.

Heavy layer of additive color for intense star glow.

Volumetric shadows added for drama, plus a subtle layer of cloud added between planet and asteroids to separate them a touch.
